Let me explain.
Android phones get a bad rap (pun intended)... and this is coming from a guy with an iPhone. It's because of the wide ranging kinds of android phones, and simply that android phones aren't made by Android. It seems like any kind of tech company, if they simply need phone software, can develop a phone with anywhere from bad tech to amazing tech, slap an Android OS in it... and that now becomes an Android phone.
The results? There's a whole bunch of low quality, barely meeting the standard-ass phones out there that get to claim being Android phones.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, there are some absolutely amazing Android devices... so amazing... they are ahead of their iPhone counterparts in more than a handful of ways. Their tech is innovative, and made from high quality components that Apple doesn't catch up to for like 5 years.
The Android world, because it's not tied to one manufacturer, has a freedom that allows them to vary widely on what they deliver, and some companies use that to make game changing excellence.
Here's the problem: There's significantly more of the lower quality Android offerings than excellent ones... because of how low the bar is on becoming an Android phone.
Like I said, it seems like anyone can install Android on anything lol. The Android world isn't gate kept at all lol.
Meanwhile, iPhones, and all things Apple/iPhone is extremely curated by Apple.
iPhone's value is more about the ecosystem than anyone one device's innovation or excellence...
but still... an iPhone has a higher general standard, technologically and even design-wise, than most Android phones.
iPhone feels like classical music, or even the parts of Jazz that are still heavily gate kept to this day. You have to be a player for years, 10,000 plus hours, taught by masters, etc.
With all of this said, anyone today can wake up, call themselves a rapper, do something on Tik Tok, and it hit, and they be recognized as a rapper.
They can even see levels of success most people will never see, doing exactly as I've described.
This means the bar for entry is extremely low, and because of that and it's saturation, Rap gets a bad rap, because there's just so much bad rap.
However... because of the freedom of rap, freedom to break rules and be daring and provocative even, those tho approach it with excellence and innovation, connect with people and the world of music in ways no genre of music had ever done before.
You have to hold them up there with music geniuses of other genres... perhaps higher at times.
But it'll always get a bad rap, because of how often it allows people who don't really care about excellence to be involved in it.
