UNAPOLOGETIC had been in my orbit for a while, but by the time I really started getting integrated into the fold fr in 2022/2023 I was on the other side of a lot of painful endings, feeling very wounded and wary of trusting people. I worked as IMAKEMADBEATS's assistant for a year, and found myself surrounded by music and very kind, creatively curious people everyday. It reignited my love for singing and songwriting, but more than that it helped me find my way back to myself after who I thought I was had come apart completely.

I would like to say that I found unapologetic at a time where I was literally giving up on the music industry.. like I was at a real breaking point of being stuck in between not even doing music at all or going a different route in the industry.. but honestly, unapologetic found me. I was already a fan since the Stunt IV show at the indie Memphis film festival.. and even before then, I attended the showing of “mother sang to us” and became even more intrigued. The people that I surrounded myself with didn’t really let me know that it was ok to just…

I was a bit broken at that time. Away from home. The friends I made. hungry to create. Making work of broken tools and used equipment. In a new place where on the outside I was told to trust no one, and the home I walked to, was its own warzone.

I found UNAPOLOGETIC around 2016. I was trynna get better—I ain’t even know what I needed to learn, I just knew I needed knowledge. I knew what my biggest influences sounded like… and I knew I had some work to do.
