UNAPOLOGETIC. is the product of a life long journey to being myself, openly and loudly, and finding out how valuable that is to everything I want out of life. I knew I wanted to build something that didn’t just create art, but shifted culture. Once I moved back to Memphis, I found purpose here... and felt the urge to use what I’d learned to build something here that wasn’t just successful, but meaningful. I wanted to make something that 16 year old James needed. A safe place for big and dangerous feelings and ideas. A space where being too much was never a problem… it was the point. If I didn’t know myself, a place for me to find myself. A place where vulnerability could become art… and weird became genius.
I’d just found Kid Maestro and Cameron Bethany… two people who came into my life in a way that felt ordained. I knew it was time to build something…
And now, years later, I’m still here… still building… still refusing to be anything less than exactly who I am.
