I would like to say that I found unapologetic at a time where I was literally giving up on the music industry.. like I was at a real breaking point of being stuck in between not even doing music at all or going a different route in the industry.. but honestly, unapologetic found me. I was already a fan since the Stunt IV show at the indie Memphis film festival.. and even before then, I attended the showing of “mother sang to us” and became even more intrigued. Before joining Unapologetic. I was coming out of some bad habits and misconceptions of what being an artist really looked like. I always thought that everything had to be so polished and perfect, which always made me overthink things a lot. I didn’t know who to trust with my vision or ideas.. hell to be honest, it was a time that I really didn’t trust myself. I didn’t feel accepted in the way that I felt I should’ve been.. The people that I surrounded myself with didn’t really let me know that it was ok to just “go with it” “figure shit out”….they didn’t show me that it was ok to just create without boundaries.. Ever since I’ve been a part of Unapologetic., my growth and development has been nothing short of a miracle in my opinion. They showed me what vulnerability really looked like.. what being a human behind the arts looked like.. I don’t think I would be in the space or timeline that I’m on if it hadn’t have been for the team really embracing me where I was and believing in where I was going. I honestly owe it all to you Mad.. thank you for building this space.. this world… this identity. I’m honored to be Unapologetic.
